I picked these up before this season after smashing my knees on the running boards one too many times, and I wish I'd bought them years ago.
The biggest surprise was how comfortable they are. Once they're under my bibs, I honestly forget I'm wearing them. They stay in place all day without sliding down, even when I'm constantly standing, sidehilling, or hopping on and off the sled.
I've already had a couple of moments where I banged my knee on the tunnel and clipped a stump getting through some tight trees. Instead of ending up with a swollen knee, I barely noticed it. The impact protection is impressive without feeling bulky.
They're breathable enough that my legs don't overheat on long rides, and the low-profile design fits easily under my gear. The Kevlar on the front also seems like it'll hold up well over time.
If you ride technical terrain or spend full days in the backcountry, these are one of those pieces of gear you don't realize you need until you have them. Now I won't ride without them.
